Once again, a piece falls off of my turtle hydra thingy. I get the feeling that wetting the clay when it's really dry causes pieces to crack. So I have decided to no longer spray mist on my clay when it's about as hard as a rock. I will apply this to other clay pieces I make in the future to avoid frustration. There have been two other pieces that have broken off of the body due to misting the clay. I did manage to re-attach them and I plan to do the same with this head. |

I had a pretty hard time getting the flippers to stay in place due to gravity being such a jerk. So I had my young disciple Paul give me some ideas on how to do so. He told me that I should crumble up some newspaper to hold the flippers up. This method has worked very well in keeping the flippers in place as they harden. I will soon need my disciple's help once more when I flip the turtle due to it's heads being a little heavy. It's always good to have someone to aid you in making something. |
