Breakfast, the most important meal of the day. It was breakfast that inspired me to create this set in this class. Some pancakes, eggs, sausage, hash browns, and a cup o' joe are a great way to start off any morning. Now one could argue that it's not a set since each piece can stand alone, HOWEVER, it is not a COMPLETE breakfast unless they each stand beside one another. Now let's actually talk about each piece. The eggs were probably the toughest part since I couldn't figure out how to make them at first. I soon decided to smooth the clay yolk into the egg and it actually turned out pretty nice. The hash browns were just made from clay I used a cheese grater on. I rolled up some clay like a coil and gave it texture with the grater. The mug was a giant pinch pot with a flat handle attached to it and the pancakes were cut from a slab. The process was fun and I actually got really hungry as I worked on each piece.
It sure did take me a while to figure out what to create for this piece. I got the idea to make breakfast one day because I was super hungry in class and couldn't stop thinking about food. I was also craving some pancakes that day so I though to myself, why not make some pancakes right now? I know I couldn't eat them, but I say they still came out pretty nice. The same thing applies to the eggs, hash browns, and sausage. All together, I call this piece the partially complete breakfast. It was supposed to be called the complete breakfast, but my acquaintance known as Paul decided it was not complete due to the lack of cereal. I couldn't disagree (literally. He wouldn't let me disagree) so I decided to got with it and boom, one complete set with a name. There is a message I hope people will get when they see this set. I want people to look at this set and think to themselves, "Boy, this guys must have been hungry."
All in all, this project was one of my favorites because I just randomly decided to make circles that eventually became pancakes, which eventually became a partially complete breakfast. I believe this is the first time I have just randomly decided to make something random and something good actually came out of it. I had a ton of fun making this piece and I'm completely satisfied with how the food came out. The plates could have used a bit of work but, eh.
